Well, Thanksgiving is around the corner and God willing, the lights will go on the day after Thanksgiving as long as it doesn't rain. Looks to be good weather. The Milford Green goes on at 5:30 and we go on at 5:00 so stop down, say "Hi" and watch the lights go on! We hope that you enjoy this year's display! And from "that house" to your's, may you have a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and a Joyous New Year!

We are so thankful that we are still able to continue doing this display each and every year! And, more importantly we are happy for all of the nice comments each year about our display. We do it for you and hope that you enjoy it. Also, thank you for your consistent donations each and every year to help suppor our cause, the Connecticut Food Bank.
We hope you continue to enjoy our display as it will be up until New Year's Day.
From our family to your's, we...Read Full Post »

Well, here we are at the beginning of August working on a new set of arches for the driveway. The ones I've been using are very old and really needed to be replaced. So, we're almost all painted (need about 12 cans of white PVC paint) and then we can candy cane stripe them. After that, we'll need to fix the manger as it sufffered some damage last year (it's first year) and then the sleigh needs to be repaired. Next, the new wooden cutouts need to be cut and painted and...Read Full Post »

Well, it's been an interesting setup. This year I have been battling three herniated discs in my neck and I have been taking the setup slowly. We are very close to being done. We are on track to have approximately 30,000 lights in the show this year. New this year are two new wireframes. One wireframe replaces the old, worn out Keep Christ in Christmas sign. The other is Santa checking his list (twice of course) which will stand next to the Santa Mailbox (w...Read Full Post »

What a better time of year to think of candy canes, Santa Claus and snow but in the middle of July. Started working on the display. Recently purchased a new Keep Christ in Christmas sign for the display. The one I had built had seen it's day. It was just ruined. Found a nice one that I bought from Christmas Done Bright on sale (20% off). Cheaper than me purchasing the plywood to build a new one!
Also, brand new manger! Built a manger for Christ....Read Full Post »

We're getting ready for this storm to hit tomorrow. Heavy winds and lots and lots of rain. If we can get out of the storm with no damage to the display, I would be extatic! Keeping our fingers crossed that everything makes it through. It's all tied down so I'm hoping it'll all be alright!

Well, we survived being outside yesterday for almost 4 hours. Ugh. It was so cold that after a while I just didn't feel cold anymore. But, we're done. All we have left to do is to hook up the extension cords and flip the switch. Keep our fingers crossed!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
As long as the weather is good, the lights should go on the day after Thanksgiving at 5:00!

Well, here we are around the middle of October. People are thinking about their Halloween costumes and I'm thinking, how am I going to get the things I need to get done, done in time. No bother. We'll get it done. Hopefully this weekend, we'll get started on getting some of the display up (lights in the trees stuff on the roof). Mainly because it's the stuff I don't want to do or care to do in the snow.
It's just about 6 weeks until the display goes on for...Read Full Post »

This year was a particularly challenging year to get the display done. With Hurricane Sandy and a snowstorm shortly thereafter coupled with the fact that Thanksgiving was one week early this year, we really only had a few weeks to get done what we did. With that I have to give BIG kudos to my wonderful helper elf, my wife, Ann. She was great at helping me with the display and getting it up. Through the cold we got it done and luckily we actually had some nice weather t...Read Full Post »

Well, we got a lot done on Sunday. Only have a couple more trees to put up and a few more deer as well as I have to fix the soldier's head (I accidentally broke it into a billion pieces last year when I took it down). This year we should have approximately 35,000 lights. No lights on the roof. Snowflakes this year. I did not buy enough so only the garage is covered. Next year when they have the sale I'll make sure to buy enough.
Also waiting for a ne...Read Full Post »
